Medical Leadership Summit

A few weeks ago I had the incredible opportunity to be part of a Medical Leadership Summit lead by the Commander of 30th Medical Group, Vandenberg Space Force Base. We had excellent discussions about medical collaboration as well as excellent briefs from the Special Forces Squadron and even a tour of SpaceX. So great to be able to stay connected to our Active Duty Service Members!

AAOS Annual Meeting

Excellent time learning, teaching, and catching up with great friends, mentors, and amazing industry partners at this year’s AAOS Annual Meeting in San Fran. Wonderful ICL on Case-based Complex Shoulder Instability orchestrated by Rick Ryu and taught by an all-star faculty of which I was honored to be in the mix! (Sorry, @oke_a01 and JJ Ryu, Instagram mandates these square boxes and I am not smart enough to figure out how to crop so you two are not only partly in the picture - I tried multiple times!). Also fun moderating a Sports Session with Ben Domb @benjamin_dombmd. AAOS is always a great time to meet up with friends from other Ortho Subspecialties as well! Until next year! #aaos @drprovencher @drschuett @domleonardelli and so many more!

National Girls & Women in Sports Day

Today we celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day. It has been my true honor to watch and take care of so many amazing women athletes (military and civilian) over the years. Thank you to my wife (an amazing woman athlete) and all of you for being such positive role models for my 4 girls!

Celebrating a Patient's Success Story After Rotator Cuff Surgery

On my non-OR days, my kids often ask me, "What is clinic?" Well, it is a chance to meet new patients and see back existing patients. It is where shared decision making happens between patient and surgeon. And it is why being a good Doctor is just as important as being a good Surgeon. And some days, you get a very special treat!!! I was recently surprised by my friend, patient, and competitive tennis player (and OB/GYN surgeon!!) with excellent news! We surgically fixed her massive rotator cuff repair a few years ago and she just recently WON the 2023 USTA NTRP 4.0 55 & over Doubles NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! So proud of you and your team's hard work to get back on the court!!! Keep pushing!!! Thank you for letting me be a part of it!

Dr. Bailey had an amazing week at this year's AANA annual meeting in New Orleans! It was his last conference in uniform and he was asked to present on the meniscus deficient knee in our combat athletes. He also used the time to catching up with amazing friends from all over. Next month, Dr. Bailey will be joining the world-class team at Ryu Hurvitz Orthopedic Clinic in Santa Barbara, CA.
